Subrenia Jackson is a native of Thomasville, GA., and a graduate of Thomasville High School.
For well over 15 years, Ms. Jackson has dedicated her life to the “green” industry. Ms. Jackson acquired her B.S Degree in Environmental Science at the University of Georgia in 1997; and is currently pursuing her M.S. Degree in Environmental Restoration and Waste Management at Florida A&M University.
By far; being set apart is a stereotype Ms. Jackson is well known for. She marches to the sound and beat of her own well tuned drum. In 2010, Ms. Jackson had a huge vision to impact her community by spreading the importance of “green living”. From small to grand, Ms Jackson’s experience is extensive and impressive. She served both the city of Thomasville and Cairo as an Energy Control and Waste water operator. Ms. Jackson has also served as an Environmental Specialist for the state of Florida’s Dept. of Environmental Protection; as well as, a Project Manager and Scientist for both Shell Oil and Sunrise Food Mart.
The combination of her experience and vision led to the creation of JWB Green (Green), LLC .
JWB Green’s (JWB), LLC mission is to enhance awareness and understanding of Recycling Management in communities, as well as, to enhance instruction, research, and outreach programs needed to improve the quality of human health and protect the environment.
JWB provides Recycling Services, which includes Green Recycling Centers (GRCs) Operation Management (OM) to create Green Job Opportunities (GJOs), by utilizing collection, receiving, sorting, dis-assembly scheduling of recoverable material, and renewable recyclable products such as: styrofoam, cooking oil (recycled to bio-diesel fuel), aluminum cans and plates, glass, cardboard, and plastic.
JWB is also instrumental in managing green space and community garden operations, facilitating outreach to local partners, city officials, community and neighborhood associations. Ms. Jackson regularly volunteers for maintenance and teaching the community about the values of environmental sustainability using the community gardens unique features. Green’s mission is to help disadvantaged and under-served communities to enhance their environmental awareness and learn the necessary skills to become gainfully employed and help build a more hopeful future for themselves, families and communities.
One key way Green achieves its mission is by educating and training the community through the use of Community Environmental Service Learning Projects. With the help of partners and volunteers, Subrenia teaches participants to give back to their community as they develop a sense of pride and become stewards of their communities and the larger environment, all while developing soft skills and earning technical credentials.
